Lionscrest August Wedding Reception
A gorgeous wedding reception for Ariana and Tyler in early August at Lionscrest Manor. Ariana and Tyler had a ton of fun ideas for their reception including a simple photo booth that was a huge hit for the guests. I set up a portrait light by a white wall and Ariana bought some fun props. The wedding cake was made by Tyler's mom which made it extra special. Altogether an awesome reception for this wonderful couple, I wish you both all the best.

Some Wedding Trends That Should Be Retired...
A great summary of some wedding trends that have grown, well, a little stale lately.

#7 Overly Produced Wedding Photos - Something to think about when you are meeting with your wedding photographer. I'm all for great ideas from Pinterest but also remember to let your photographer use their artistic skills to create a special vision of your wedding day. If you give us too many photos to replicate from Pinterest, then we don't have time to do the types of photos that we know work at that venue. In some venues, I've shot over one hundred different weddings, so I have a great idea of what set ups work there and which might not be such a great idea. (Actually the lamp post is going to come out of your head if we try to do a photo in that area...:)
I base what types of shots I'm going to do on my meetings with the couple and figuring out what type of people they are. I pay attention to what types of photos you react to on my studio walls and in my albums. Is there a particular feeling in that photo you are drawn too? Do you like close ups of hands and objects? Maybe you are drawn to a more dreamy look that I can make sure to get.
I am always interested in new ideas, so sending Pinterest photos is great, but just keep in mind that your wedding day is unique and so are you. So let us show the world that in your photos!

July Wedding - Lionscrest
A fantastic wedding day in late July for Leah and Emily at Lionscrest Manor. The couple was married outside surrounded by a wonderful group of family and friends. I was so touched by their wedding ceremony, officiated by Carolyn Carpenter of Sunflower Weddings. A great day for a great couple, thank you so much for letting me be a part of it.
